Annual Safaris

2026 Safari

Our 2026 Safari to Chester County, PA was held on May 16–17, 2026. We visited 15 bridges on the two-day safari. 58 bridgers attended the safari. Our Safari was led by Heather and Paul Watkins.

Each year the society offers a commemorative shirt and patch for the event.  Many thanks to member Connie McLaughlin for her voluntary work on the artwork for these items!

2025 Safari

Our 2025 Safari to West Virginia and Virginia was held on September 20–22, 2025. We visited 16 bridges on the three-day safari. 33 members from five states attended the safari. Our Safari was led by Jim and Gloria Smedley.

2024 Safari

Our 2024 Safari to Western Pennsylvania was held on September 14–15, 2024. We visited 10 bridges in Washington County and 6 in Greene County. 42 members attended the two-day safari. Our Safari was led by Bob and Judy Kuether and Tim and Connie McLaughlin.

2023 Safari

Our 2023 Safari to Northern Vermont was held on September 23–25. We visited 30 bridges. The Safari was a joint effort by the TBCBSP and the NSPCB. 77 people from 10 states attended the three-day safari. Our Safari was lead by Jim & Gloria Smedley and Bill & Jenn Caswell.

2022 Safari

Our 2022 Safari to Bucks County, PA was held on August 20–21. We visited all 12 covered bridges in Bucks County & Green Sergeants Bridge in NJ. We also visited Ralph Stover State Park Pony Truss Bridge and the Tohickon Creek Aqueduct Bridge.

Our Safari was led by Tim and Connie McLaughlin.

2021 Safari

Our 2021 Safari was held on August 28–30 in southeast Ohio. We visited 18 bridges in 4 counties.

2019 Safari

Our 2019 Safari was held on May 31–June 2 in Columbia and surrounding counties in Pennsylvania. We visited 28 authentic bridges in Columbia, Northumberland, Montour and Dauphin counties. Bob & Judy Kuether led our safari.

2018 Safari

Our 2018 Safari was held on June 9–10 in Preble and Greene counties of western Ohio. We visited all 14 authentic covered bridges in these two counties in addition to Black/Pugh's Mill Bridge in Butler County, Germantown Bridge in Montgomery County and Clifton Mill and bridge in Greene county. Tom Walczak led our Safari.

2017 Safari

Our 2017 Safari was held June 3–5 in Bedford and Somerset counties, Pennsylvania. We visited 21 authentic covered bridges and 2 non-authentic bridges and also visited the Flight 93 site near Shanksville, PA. Ray Finkelstein and his wife Linda led our group during our three-day, very successful safari. Fifty members and guests attended the safari, most of them for all three days.
